Doctor Sophia Guerra BSc. (HK), ND is a Naturopathic Doctor with a personal and professional desire to improve the well-being of families as a whole through the art of Naturopathic and lifestyle Medicine. She believes that the key to health and longevity is empowering families with the knowledge necessary to make naturally healthy and conscientious choices concerning their health care.
Dr. Guerra graduated from The University of Guelph with an honours degree in human kinetics. This served as a strong foundation for her academic career at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, during which time she excelled on the pediatric speciality shift. Working with children naturally inspired her to concentrate on family medicine and promote wellness of the family unit.
Early into her first pregnancy, Dr. Guerra came to appreciate the true wisdom of the women’s physiology and how Naturopathic Medicine could facilitate a healthy pregnancy and empowering birth experience. Dr. Guerra’s practice today is a general family practice with a special interest in pediatric wellness and promoting women’s health; physically, mentally and emotionally from pre-conception through the parenting years.
Dr. Guerra believes that, like a tree, a shift in one branch of the family affects change in another. This is why she encourages all members of the family to actively participate in one another’s health endeavours. Husbands, wifes, daughters, brothers, grand-parents and friends can all benefit from natural medicine.
Dr. Guerra’s treatment philosophy is to restore balance in the body with the use of natural therapeutics prescribed with the purest intent; that is to support the body’s natural healing capacity with the most gentle and highly individualized interventions. She believes that physical activity, lifestyle and nutrition build the foundation of good health. She is particularly fond of healing with herbal medicine, acupuncture/Traditional Chinese Medicine, homeopathy and hydrotherapy.
