Massage Therapy Services Offered:

Swedish Massage-

Traditional Swedish Massage.  Relax and unwind.  Experience soothing touch and full body relaxation.  The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Other possible benefits include stimulation of circulation, an increase in muscle tone, and a balance of the musculo-skeletal systems. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy-

The theory behind cranio-sacral therapy is that when blockages occur in spinal fluid, an unharmonious balance in the body can occur, resulting in muscle and joint strain, emotional disturbances and the improper operation of the bodys organs and central nervous system. Practitioners believe that until the spinal fluid is naturally allowed to move freely around the body, the central nervous system and the bodys other major organs and muscles will be put off balance and put at risk of sickness and injury.

Indian Head Massage-

In Indian Head Massage, the head, neck and face are massaged with the purpose of manipulating energy channels called Chakras with the goal being to clear blocks in these Chakras that cause a build-up of negative energy, which are purported to cause ailments. The belief is when the energy does not flow properly, negative energy builds up, causing common ailments, including stress, pain and nociception pains and aches, and baldness or hair loss.

Through using Indian Head Massage to balance the Chakras, the client will be better able to cope with every day stresses and strains, and will feel more relaxed and energised. It is helpful in not only alleviating tension, but also improves blood and lymphatic drainage and circulation.

Reiki-

The word “reiki” in Japanese translates roughly as “universal life force energy.” This explains why reiki can only be passed from master to apprentice, and why the theory behind this spiritual practice upholds that only a skilled reiki practitioner can absorb energy from the universe, and then channel it into a patient in order to improve their health and well-being. In this way it is much like touch therapy, with the reiki master acting as the conduit – removing bad energy and replacing it with good energy. This channeling of good energy will then encourage the patient to heal.

Infant Massage-

Infant massage improves the function of a baby’s brain, heart and liver; improves blood flow, and strengthens gastrointestinal and respiratory tract function. The practical value of baby-massage is most apparent when dealing with colic, constipation, weaning, teething, post-natal depression, sleep difficulties and difficult breastfeeding.

Prenatal Massage-

Massage has been known to calm many of the aches and pains associated with pregnancy such as sciatica, swelling, back and neck pain, and stomach upset. Prenatal massage has also been shown to improve physical discomforts by encouraging circulation and by stretching the muscles and joints to their full range of motion to improve skin elasticity and body tone. Studies show that pregnant women who receive regular prenatal massages are more at ease – furthermore relaxing the fetus inside their womb.
